Video: Was this the performance of the greatest ever racehorse?

Frankel produced the most incredible performance in the Qipco 2000 Guineas on Saturday, prompting some to speculate that Henry Cecil's star is the best we've ever seen.

The first Classic of the horse-racing season on Saturday saw potential fulfilled in the most thrilling of spectacles, as Frankel obliterated the field in a mesmerising show of superiority.

The performance had the racing journos clambering over themselves to acclaim Henry Cecil’s colt.

This wasn’t a race, this was an annihilation. Frankel left his rivals trailing in his wake from the first strides of Newmarket’s straight mile, making a field consisting of the best thoroughbreds of their generation look like a load of low-grade nags in a Ballinrobe bumper.

But it’s the pictures – and the breathless, can-hardly-believe-what-I’m-seeing commentary of Racing UK’s Ian Bartlett – which really do it justice. Enjoy.
