Video: What Cheltenham can do to Irish students

Cheltenham is a roller-coaster of emotions for all punters, and this scene taken from a college house is one that will have been replicated right around the country.

By Declan Whooley

The scene is your stereotypical student living room with the table indicating the lads had a good night behind them – or perhaps a strong breakfast – before sitting down to watch the Champion Hurdle.

We hear some expert analysis, plenty of encouragement for jockey Ruby Walsh and we are going to go out on a limb and guess that the lad in the white t-shirt had a few quid on the the Willie Mullins trained horse to become only the second to reclaim the Stan James Champion Hurdle.

The reaction at the end is something to behold, with studying and even college attendance sure to take a big hit this week.

Hat-tip to Cathal Sheridan for sending this our way.
