Ah Tommy, this Subway ad is good, but is it better than Denis Hickie’s effort for Wavin?
There was a bit of fuss this summer when Subway used British boxer Anthony Ogogo in their in-store promotions in Ireland, with many wondering why they couldn’t have given a few quid to one of our, frankly much better, Olympic boxers.
Now Subway have drafted in an Irish athlete to their ads, and it is Ireland and Ulster winger Tommy Bowe.
The ad, which also features Ogogo and gymnast Louis Smith, has all the classics of a rugby star ad, with the slow-mo dive for the line and a rather awkward ending.
Still, is it better/worse than Denis Hickie’s epic ad extolling the virtues of Wavin pipes.
