Andy Moran might have already nailed down the point of the 2015 Championship.
Yes, the Championship has a good three months left to run and we’re sure we’ll see many more worthy contenders before then, but they’ll do well to top what the veteran Mayo forward managed yesterday.
Any defender worth their salt would have let Moran shoot from beside the corner flag with a stiff enough breeze blowing away from the Galway goal.
Moran, however, wasn’t content to simply work the ball back to get another move started and instead, somehow, managed to bend it over the black spot with the outside of his boot for the opening score of the game.
Did he mean it? Definitely.
Outrageous stuff.
