We think it might be the first time that Mario Balotelli and Robbie Keane have been mentioned in the same sentence.
Despite amazing performances by Ronaldo, Luka Modric and company at Anfield last night, there was only one name on everyone’s lips after Real Madrid’s victory over Liverpool and that was Mario Balotelli.
We hardly feel the need to go into why he was the subject of so much discussion – if you really don’t know, click here – but after his half-time shirt swap with Pepe and a series of poor performances, the prospect of him leaving Liverpool in January has already been raised by some observers.
Speaking about that prospect on Sky Sports last night, Jamie Carragher brought up another Liverpool striker who didn’t settle at Anfield and was moved on only months after arriving at the club; he was, of course, talking about Robbie Keane.

Jamie Redknapp jumped into defend our Robbie immediately afterwards, saying: “It’s a bit harsh to compare Robbie Keane to Balo because at least Robbie had a go, he tried and worked hard.”
Carragher, to be fair, was merely pointing out that there is a precedent for a player moving from a club only months after arriving, although Robbie’s probably not particularly happy about being mentioned in the same breath as Balotelli considering the (slightly ridiculous) sh*tstorm the Italian finds himself in at the moment.
