Australia have lodged a formal appeal against the two-match ban handed down to out-half Quade Cooper following Saturday’s win over South Africa.
The Queensland Reds star was cited following a high tackle on his Springboks counterpart Morne Steyn during the Wallabies’ 30-13 victory in Brisbane.
He is set to miss two vital clashes against Tri-Nations favourites New Zealand over the next two weeks but Australian officials believe the punishment does not fit the crime.
The appeal is likely to be decided following a three-way conference call on Wednesday.
