“Can I have your jersey after the match?”
The result didn’t quite go the way he would have wanted, but it’s safe to say seven-year old Cian Moran from Ballyhaunis in Mayo will remember Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland for the rest of his life.
Cian, a big Reds fan, travels to a number of Liverpool matches with his uncle Tommy Moran and when Tommy renewed Cian’s membership card recently, he entered him in a competition to be a mascot at the game at the Stadium of Light on Monday.
Lo and behold, Cian ended up winning the competition and not only did he get to walk out with the players before the game, virtually all of the squad paused to sign his jersey on their way onto the pitch.
Tommy captured it all on camera, including a memorable exchange with Cian’s favourite player, Roberto Firmino and a request for the Brazilian to give him his jersey after the match.
For a young Liverpool supporter, it doesn’t get much better than this…
