WATCH: Enda Kenny sends inspirational message to Mayo fans ahead of the All-Ireland Final

Conor Heneghan

Are those tears in the Taoiseach’s eyes?

A little earlier this week, you may have read that punters can make money on Enda Kenny crying if Mayo end a 65-year drought and win the All-Ireland title on Sunday.

It may not take victory for Enda to get emotional, as he certainly seems to be welling up a little in a stirring address to Mayo supporters in a video released by The Mayo News on Thursday.

In the video, Kenny, whose father Henry was a member of the Mayo team that won one of only three All-Ireland titles for the county in 1936, tells Mayo fans that “we can dare to dream” and that the “support from the west and around the world will be deafening”.

“This team, like all those before them, have one ambition in mind,” Kenny adds.

“To bring the ultimate prize west of the Shannon and end the long hunger that burns inside every man, woman and child in our county, at home and abroad.”

The Taoiseach finishes his address with a rallying cry to the people of his county, saying: “Time to live, time to grow up, time to do it. Go n-éirí libh ar fad.”

If that doesn’t stir the blood of Mayo fans before Sunday, we don’t know what will.
