WATCH: Ireland fans start massive Ruby Walsh chant after spotting him on the plane to France

Conor Heneghan

Brilliant.

Amongst the thousands of Irish fans at the Euros, there’s going to be a celebrity or two cheering on the Boys in Green in France and one of them will be Ruby Walsh, one of the greatest jockeys of all time.

He’s also there to ride Un De Sceaux in the French Champion Hurdle in Auteuil on Sunday, but we’re sure he’ll try and fit in some footie as well.

If Ruby thought that he could keep a low profile and slip into France unnoticed then he had another thing coming, as he was spotted on a flight to France by a load of fellow Irish fans, who weren’t about to keep it a secret.

What followed was a very loud and enthusiastic tribute to the man himself, who seemed both delighted and mortified at the same time.

We’re just surprised they didn’t go with ‘Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby’ to the tune of the Kaiser Chiefs song of the same name, although no doubt that came later.

Class.
