Only in the GAA could something like this happen. Mighty stuff.
It’s been a great few years to be involved with Sean O’Mahony’s GAA club in Louth.
In 2014, they captured the Louth and Leinster Intermediate titles and last Sunday, they won their first ever Louth senior title with a two-point victory over St. Mary’s.
Winning a county title in any year is a big deal. Winning it for the first time is an even bigger deal and the achievement was marked at 12.30pm mass on Sunday morning, when the entire team gathered at the front of the local church, trophy and all, to sing their own version of ‘Grand Auld Team’ to a packed audience.
It was the same song, in fact, that the team sang when visiting injured colleague John O’Brien in hospital following their Leinster Intermediate final victory back in 2014.
If only you could bottle team spirit like this. Brilliant.
Cheers to Sean O’Mahony’s player Benny Traynor for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail editorial@JOE.ie.
