A great occasion for them…

Fiji claimed the hearts of millions of people around the world last night when they won their first ever Olympic medal at the Rugby Sevens.

The comprehensively defeated Great Britain by 43-7 last night to clinch gold, and people really loved watching their achievement.

Their Prime Minister loved it so much that he announced a public holiday after the win.

But naturally,it was back in Fiji where the most raucous celebrations took place as the entire country seemed to grind to a halt to watch the match unfold at 10am local time.

Rugby is the most played team sport in Fiji and they’ve a strong tradition of producing talented, athletic players. Although many of these have been poached in recent times due to the residency rule.

But this was a special moment for Fiji…
