It’s not “Can” or “Khan” or “Chan”.
Emre Can has been a key figure in the turnaround in Liverpool’s season as the German has produced some top class performances since December.
The versatile 21-year-old, who comes from Turkish ancestry, has been one of the standout performers in Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The player’s name has caused some confusion though as some pronounced Can’s name as “Chan” or “Khan,” while others completely mispronounced calling him “the next Steven Gerrard.”
However, Turkish-Football.com has given every football fan some insightful information by revealing the proper pronunciation.
The ‘C’ in Turkish is spoken like an English ‘J’ which means ‘Can’ is actually pronounced ‘Jun’.
So, the proper pronunciation of the player’s name is “Ehm-reh Jun”.
We reckon George Hamilton would do it justice.
Hat-tip to Telegraph.
