Although we don’t yet have official software sales figures for video games last year in Ireland, this afternoon we learned of the UK’s biggest 2011 games. It wasn’t very surprising reading.
After becoming the biggest entertainment launch ever and grossing a staggering $400m worldwide in its first 24 hours, there’s no prizes for guessing that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the year’s biggest seller, ensuring that a Call of Duty title has now topped the UK’s yearly charts for the third year running.
That Modern Warfare 3 was followed by FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3 is no surprise but the sight of Zumba Fitness in fourth position was an eye-opener to us, as was the fact that last year and this year’s editions of the Football Manager series topped the PC chart, ahead of Skyrim and Battlefield 3.
