Now this is a useful status update, as it saved John All’s life.
We all give out about Facebook from time to time but we reckon American climber John All will never try to delete his page. The 44-year old was exploring the Himalayas when he fell through a crevasse in the ice, 6,000 metres above sea level.
All suffered a dislocated shoulder and he also broke five ribs, a knee and an elbow. Yep, that’s a whole bag of pain right there. Anyway, in desperate need of help when he dragged himself out of the crevasse, he posted his plea on the American Climber Science Program Facebook page.
Someone called the rescue services but he followed that post up with an even more stark update.

There was a happy conclusion though as the climber was eventually airlifted to hospital, 19 hours after his fall.
