IO Interactive and Square Enix have released the first teaser trailer for Hitman 5, which will apparently be fully revealed at next month’s E3 event.
The game, officially titled Hitman: Absolution, marks the first entry in the stealth series since 2006’s Hitman: Blood Money. It is rumoured that the next installment of protagonist Agent 47’s covert operations is set for a Autumn/Winter 2011 release.
The official plot synopsis released for Hitman Absolution is as follows:
‘Agent 47, a cold blooded assassin, who takes on his most dangerous contract to date. Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, he finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth.‘
The below trailer for the as-yet-untitled Hitman entry gives little away but features a gloved hand cluthing applying a silencer to a revolver, a snake coiled around a handgun and a barcode that reads ‘110706 040147’.
Before closing out the quick teaser, the ’47’ at the end of the barcode glows red, obviously meant to signify Agent 47’s return.
The ‘110706’ has quickly been recognised as a pointer towards the beginning of E3, the video games industry’s largest event, which begins July 7 (07/06/11).
