Great news this morning…
Internet search engine Google have begun construction on their €150 million data centre in West Dublin this morning.
The move will create 400 jobs during the construction phase of the project with the first phase due to be completed later this year.
The new two-storey centre will be the second in Ireland and will be built alongside the existing one at Profile Park, Dublin creating 30 full-time jobs when it’s completed.
The internet giant also purchased 31 acres of land adjacent to the site which leaves them room for possible further expansion.
Google is the latest of multinational tech companies to expand in Ireland after Facebook and Apple announced plans to do the same earlier in the year.
Google Ireland’s office employs over 5,000 people and overlooks the rest of the company in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
