Fans of everyone’s favourite bald-headed, moody mythological murderer Kratos will delighted to hear that the God of War series appears to be making a return.
The rumours of Kratos’ return were first sparked by a pre-order listing for God of War IV for the Playstation 3 on Amazon France and the title’s existence now appears to have been confirmed through a minute-long teaser trailer whose authenticity has not yet been established.
The footage, embedded above, is shot off-camera and features a voice-over which states as follows: “Brother, the phoenix has been drinking your blood, full of your anger, your strength, and during her rebirth she also has let you in life. Now I ask you: what are you going to do? Would you leave me here in hell? Wake up, wake up!”
Plenty of gamers have poured scorn on the supposed trailer, however, by noting that it uses the exact same music from God of War 3 and that the lack of any in-game footage would be very convenient for anyone who wished to keep players guessing by producing their own clip.
Either way, we doubt we’ll be hearing any official announcement until this summer’s prestigous E3 trade show but we’ll be holding out for a late 2012 release.
