Multiplayer could be coming to the recently-announced upcoming Tomb Raider reboot, if industry job advertisements are to be believed.
Job listings on industry website Gamasutra (which have been subsequentally removed) were looking for a “senior game designer multiplayer” and a “producer multiplayer” to work on a “AAA title” at Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics.
If Tomb Raider does include a multiplayer component, it would not be a first – this year’s excellent Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light featured two player co-op gameplay, though it was a downloadable spin-off rather than a physical release as part of the series canon.
The forthcoming and still-untitled Tomb Raider reboot was featured on the cover of US gaming monthly Game Informer, while a press release from Crystal Dynamics announced: “Forget everything you know about Tomb Raider, we are exploring things that have never been done before in this game. This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other.”
