Dead Space movie will not be a ‘cheap cash-in’ say developers

Isaac was afraid to join with the Thriller backing dancers
Enjoying Dead Space 2? EA scare-fest has won rave reviews as the expanded universe of the series now extends to downloadable titles, iPhone releases, an anime film and full-blown novels. Series creators Visceral, however, are aiming their sights even higher – a Hollywood adaptation.
Speaking to BBC’s Newsbeat, art director Ian Milham told the programme that a theatrical version of Isaac Clarke’s necromorph battles would not be a rushed or cynical cash-in. “We would love to have a live action film and we’ve had a lot of discussion,” he said. “But one of the reasons Dead Space still exists and is popular is because we’ve made sure to do everything right.
“So we’re doing the same with the film, not just a cheap cash-in but to do something really worthwhile, so we’ll see.”
God of War creator responds to ‘sexist’ claims

Here’s Jaffe, the mischievious little rascal
Twisted Metal and God of War creator David Jaffe has come under fire over his, shall we say ‘unique’ take on the unveiling of the Sony PSP 2, otherwise known as the NGP. Speaking to his Twitter followers, an excited Jaffe described the console in as outspoken a method as possible.
Jaffe wrote: ““New hardware is like new pussy. It’s exciting at first but after you’ve experienced enough fresh vagina over the years – while there’s still always a bit of excitement when something new comes along – you learn that sooner than later, the new and exciting becomes the standard and dependable and so it’s best to just stay focused and on what you’ve got at the moment and if you need to make a change, it’ll just happen organically.”
Perhaps wary of becoming the next Andy Gray/Martin Keys (we’ll pretend he has any notion of who they are), Jaffe responded to online claims of sexism by stating, “I am intentionally crass and lewd at times because I think 2 many people are hypocritical uptight bizzy bodies. But sexist? Not at all.”
Purchase/Download of the Week
Call of Duty: Black Ops – First Strike (XBLA, 1200 MS Pts)

Finally, new environments for us to shoot our friends in the face
The Call of Duty juggernaut trundles ever-onwards with this week’s Xbox 360 exclusive Black Ops map pack. Sorry PS3 owners, but only Xbox gamers will be able to experience the new maps of Kowloon, Berlin Wall, Discovery and Stadium – and a new zombie mode entited Ascension. Don’t worry though, the map pack will find its way to PS3 later in the year.
Friday Releases 04/02/11

The myriad of uses that Lakitu can find for a fishing rod, eh?
After the huge recent releases of LittleBigPlanet 2, Mass Effect 2 on PS3 and Dead Space 2, this Friday’s release window brings us back to Earth with a thud. With a huge dearth of quality software, our pick for game of the week has to be Mario Sports Mix. An enjoyable yet hardly earth-shattering party sports title, Sports Mix allows Mario and his friends from the Mushroom Kingdom (plus a few secret Square Enix characters) the chance to pair off in teams of two or three in games of Dodgeball, Basketball, Ice Hockey and Volleyball. Take it from us – the Ice Hockey component is actually bags of fun.
