So what is it?
A revolutionary camera delivering DSLR quality from a compact size. It weighs just 3.8oz (108g) and measures 6.9cm in height.
It has a 32mm equivalent aspherical lens with variable blade iris and it has a 20.2 mega pixel CMOS BSI sensor which basically means it can capture video in poor lighting.
It connects to the iPhone or iPad via the charging connector and it turns the iPhone display into a camera viewfinder.
Made with aluminium it is super light and it also swivels on 60 degree angle for creative footage.
Why is it in the news?
The highly impressive DSLR image quality and its tidy size are the main reasons for the hype.
Also it is a fairly affordable device hitting the market at €535. Well worth it if you live for good video footage.
Why should I be using it?
If you want to make Hollywood quality video footage of you and your mates from your iPhone and a handy connection this is the piece for you.
Also you can send the footage to Facebook, Twitter or photos to Instagram as easily as if it was from your phone as it is all connected.
Although it had the option of being stored separately, on the device or to your phone.
Cost:
For a hefty €535 it would want to do exactly what it says on the tin.
In saying that, it is an impressive piece of technology and a handy thing to have when messing about with your friends or putting together video footage for a big occasion.
Whats the alternative?
In terms of cameras you could just use your iPhone or a action camera such as the Sony 4K Action Camera FDR-X1000V.
But the whole idea is to combine the compact qualities of the iPhone with the quality of an action camera and in this way, it is ahead of the game.
