That Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom – previously known as Kim Schmitz – has fallen from grace following his arrest in New Zealand last week is no shock, yet his prowess at Modern Warfare 3 certainly is.
Prior to Dotcom’s arrest last week, the rotund Megaupload founder was ranked as the world’s best Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Liveplayer under his gamertag ‘Megaracer’.
Kim has an incredible 180,980 kills to his name in the game, with just 86,241 deaths. However, following his arrest, the founder has since fallen behind new worldwide leader Arazos.
As evidenced above, Dotcom celebrated becoming the world’s best Modern Warfare 3 players three weeks ago by posting a video on YouTube showcasing his skills.
The clip also reveals the 38-year-old’s glamourous lifestyle, with his New Zealand home – the biggest in the country – housing seven 60″ TV screens and a fleet of luxury vehicles including a Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe.
Kim’s expertise at the online component of the hugely popular military title is such that gamer site Venturebeat claimed yesterday: “If I worked for Activision Blizzard, the publisher of Modern Warfare 3, I would put up his bail money”. That’s pretty unlikely if you ask us though, especially considering more gamers likely illegally downloaded the game through Megaupload than anywhere else.
Kim and six fellow Megaupload executives are currently charged with five counts of racketeering, copyright infringement and conspiracy. If found guilty, each could faces up to 20 years behind bars
