According to some very tentative reports, Microsoft are looking to respond to the PS4 announcement with one of their own in April.

Reports have emerged that the big wigs at Microsoft want to punch back after Sony’s PS4 announcement earlier this week with an announcement of their own, of the new Xbox (possibly called the Xbox 720) as early as April.
The website domain Xboxevent.com has also been registered by a company called Eventcore, which specialises in launching PR events for tech companies according to wevegothiscovered.com, and according to kotaku.com, Sony executives were heard discussing “the competition” on Wednesday and their plans for hosting an event in April.
They may indeed learn from Sony’s mistakes during their own launch and decide to show the new Xbox device itself as well as to announce a price, two glaring criticisms of the PS4 event. It is assumed, of course, that it will also be available in shops for the big holidays in December.
Given though, that the graphics have evolved to a point where both consoles are going to be similar, Xbox will be aiming to have a different selling point to the PlayStation 4, which seems to be based on sharing, but is verging dangerously towards looking like a new Dreamcast.
