Pic: We suspect some people will be secretly very happy with the new Snapchat update

Although some nosey parkers are likely to be pretty disappointed

Although some nosey parkers are likely to be pretty disappointed.

Snapchat has unquestionably become one of the most common forms of communication between young people these days and its latest update is a pretty big deal.

The latest update for the app has added a Discover feature and has reshuffled the way settings and contact menus appear, which seems to have had an effect on the ‘best friends’ feature.

Anyone who uses Snapchat will know that this feature ranks the top three friends of every Snapchat user through the use of a points system based on the number of messages exchanged.

Because that information was widely available, Snapchat users were free to check on who their friends were messaging most on a regular basis and we don’t think we have to explain how such available information could lead to a strain in relationships.

With the latest update, however, the ‘best friends’ feature seems to have disappeared and whether this is just a temporary arrangement or not remains unclear.

Somehow, we don’t think some people will be too upset if it never comes back.
