As we’re sure you all know the MLS kicks off again tonight, and it is shaping up to be a good year for Robbie Keane, according to Fifa ’12.
They take the world of video games very seriously in the good old US of A. They get the fans to choose who goes on the front of Madden, the NFL game and the issue is seriously and hotly debated.
They’re also big fans of simulating seasons on the old Xbox and using that to predict how the season will go. And they aren’t bad at it. They have predicted seven of the last Super Bowl champions and they called the winners of last year’s MLS.
And with the MLS kicking off tonight, someone in EA Sports fired up Fifa ’12 again and let the magic of technology predict the season ahead for Robbie, Thierry, David and the rest.
Not surprisingly, the reigning champions, the L.A. Galaxy, are predicted to win the title again according to EA. With Robbie, Becks and Landon Donovan probably three of the four players we could name in the MLS then we are in no position to argue with them.
But they also predicted the destination of the 2012 Budweiser Golden Boot award, or top scorer, and it went to none other than Tallaght’s finest Robbie Keane. Again, we find it hard to argue as Robbie is probably the best striker in the league and, as he has shown for Ireland and Aston Villa, he still has it.
But we wonder did the lads over in the ‘Land of the Free’ forget about a little thing called the European Championships? We reckon Robbie could miss as many as six games depending on when Trap wants him to turn up and how far our boys go in Polkraine.
Will Robbie really score 19 goals this season, as they predict, in as little as 28 games? We hope they are right. A red-hot Robbie is what Trap will want to see getting off the plane in Dublin in mid-May.
