Teenager sues parents for putting embarrassing photos up on Facebook

They were warned…

An 18-year old woman in Austria is suing her parents after they refused to remove a series of childhood photos of her that were uploaded to Facebook.

In what is the first case of its kind in the country, the woman, who has not been named because of Austrian privacy laws, is taking the case against her parents due to their refusal to remove more than 500 childhood photos of their daughter, photos she claims are embarrassing and a violation of her privacy.

“They knew no shame and no limits,” the teenager told Austria’s Heute newspaper.

“They didn’t care if I was sitting on the toilet or lying naked in the cot, every moment was photographed and made public.”

As soon as she turned 18, the teenager decided to take legal action against her parents, whose photos of her can be seen by approximately 700 friends on the social media site.

Refusing to remove the photos, her father said that the photos were his and he had the right to do with them as he pleased.

Following legal action taken by the teenager, the case is due to go to court in November, with the teenager’s lawyer claiming in Heute that she has a good chance of winning the case.

Might make you think about who you go tagging in your Facebook pictures in future.
