We thoroughly agree with these findings…
We’ve all been on Facebook for a very long time and like any relationship that lasts a considerable length of time, things get on your nerves. These things aren’t big enough to make you end the relationship (delete your Facebook) but they can be very irritating.
Social media websites like Facebook give a platform for us to put our best foot forward. You’re never going to post a picture of you watching The Saturday Night show stuffing your face with pizza or when you’re red and sweaty after a tough game of five-a-side.
No, you want to put the best of you out there so photos of you on holiday, at a music festival, on a night out (before it goes wrong), meeting a celebrity or standing in front of Father Ted’s house in Clare are a must.
A lot of annoying stuff in that short list but what are the most annoying things people do on Facebook? The good people at promotionalcodes.org.uk have done a survey and here are the results. Spot anything familiar on the list…
1. People who post romantic messages about themselves and their other half.
Listen, we’re delighted someone likes you, we really are. But NO ONE CARES about your funny romantic stories, what your nicknames for each other are, your in-jokes or how good you both look standing at the edge of a pier in Spain.
No one cares. Stop that now.
2. People who brag about how good their life is.
Okay, Barney Stinson is awesome but Barney Stinson’s over the top persona is because he’s a fictional TV character.
You smugly letting all your Facebook friends know you’re in a VIP bar in Mullingar or that you have the new iPhone or screengrabbing and posting the flight details for your trip to South America is unnecessary.
Remember, begrudgery is one of Irish people’s strongest skills so for your own sake and your general popularity, ease off lad.
3. The people who post a new Facebook update every 53 seconds.
We all know the type who believes that posting constant updates about their daily life on Facebook is something worthwhile.
Whether the post is about how tired you are just after you wake up, what you’re eating for breakfast, what your cat just did, something that happened on Home and Away, how you’re feeling, how look look tired in this selfie, how you can’t wait for the weekend etc. Yeah, all of that is annoying.
Also, we’re 98% sure that if you’re one of those people, your posts have been hidden by 100% of your friends. Just remember, less is more.
