There is one brilliant reason you need to download iOS 10 right now

Ben Kenyon

If you’ve got an iPhone, you’ll know how annoying those built-in stock Apple apps are.

Hanging around like a fart in a space suit, they just sit there cluttering up your homescreen doing absolutely feck all.

The worst part is you can’t even delete them. While some of them serve some function from time to time, the rest are useless… and you’re stuck with them forever.

Who has ever used Compass, really? Hands up which normal human being has ever knowingly clicked on the Stocks app? And what is Find My Friends? No idea.

Yes there have been ways to conceal these irritating stock apps and hide them away deep in some far flung folder… but you have never totally been able to expunge them from the face of your iPhone permanently.

Well finally, in the year 2016, after 10 incarnations of Apple’s operating system, you can finally remove any and all these stock apps.

The new iOS 10 update gives everyone what we’ve been crying out for all these years – the power to delete the undeletable.

And we’re going to be hitting ‘remove’ to our heart’s content.

You can lay waste to some serious junk too…

There are a bunch of other apps you can remove, too.

While you may only be able to free up 150mb of space, just think of how clutter-free your phone will now be.

If you suddenly have a change of heart and want to check the stockmarket, you’re lost at sea and you think you might need the Compass app again or if you’re suddenly compelled to have a look at the Watch app thing, they’re easy to reinstall.

To restore an app, just head to the App Store, search for the app you removed, and tap the cloud icon and it should instantly find its way back to your home screen. Simple.
