A day after the American Revolution setting of Assassin’s Creed 3 was outed, developers Ubisoft have evidently decided “To hell with it!” and confirmed the title’s existence.
Yesterday the game was unofficially unveiled after a leaked image was sent to gaming site Kotaku, which depicted a cowled figure holding a tomahawk in one hand and a gun in the other behind a 12-star ‘Betsy Ross’ American flag, implying that the latest in the franchise takes place in the late 18th century.
Hours laters, US gaming publication Game Informer revealed two covers for an upcoming issue, both of which featured the same as-yet unnamed character in a US revolution setting.
Having clearly decided that the cat is out of the bag, Ubisoft have sent us this morning three near-identical images of the blockbuster title’s official box art, each for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC formats. Take a look at the PS3 version below:

In addition to that, we’ve been told that the game will be officially revealed in further detail this coming Monday, March 5.
Hopefully we’ll find out a little more about the new series protagonist and whether or not (as many have speculated), the figure is a Native American.
