WhatsApp have made some changes and here’s what you need to know

Paul Moore

Have you seen the little yellow message yet?

As we all know, what’s said in a WhatsApp group remains in a WhatsApp group but if you’re worried about hackers/the government/aliens reading your messages then fear not, their new encryption policy is here to help.

Whatsapp have added full ‘end-to-end encryption’ to all of its services, including voice calling and group chats, on both iOS and Android. You may have seen this little message pop up.

If you’re still unconvinced of these new heightened security measures then know this, not even WhatsApp can read your messages, only the person that you send them to.

WhatsApp says, ‘From now on when you and your contacts use the latest version of the app, every call you make, and every message, photo, video, file, and voice message you send, is end-to-end encrypted by default, including group chats. The idea is simple: when you send a message, the only person who can read it is the person or group chat that you send that message to. No one can see inside that message. Not cybercriminals. Not hackers. Not oppressive regimes. Not even us”.

Good news for your friend that keeps sending some ‘interesting’ messages to your phone.
