Arsene Wenger looks likely to add to his summer signings, as his team are linked with several players including Keisuke Honda.
Arsenal have so far signed two players this transfer window, Marouane Chamakh and Laurent Koscielny, and have been linked to several more.
With the unreliable Manuel Almunia between the sticks, Wenger has been searching for a goalkeeper. He has already had a bid for Mark Schwarzer turned down as well as one for Italy goalkeeper Federico Marchetti.
“Arsenal have tabled bids in the past, but the deal won’t go through because they aren’t willing to pay the right price for our asset,†Cagliari’s chairman Massimo Cellino confirmed.
The gunners have also been linked with a £12million move for Toulouse Andre-Pierre Gignac, but he seems more likely to join Marseille.
“We have reached an agreement with the player but there also has to be an agreement with the club,” Marseille chairman Jean-Claude Dassier said.
More likely to join Arsenal is CSKA Moscow’s 24-year-old Japanese winger Keisuke Honda, who has issued a come-and-get me plea to the Gunners.
Honda, who Wenger has described as “a genius†only joined the Moscow club this year from Dutch club VVV.
