Has it really been ten years? Canon is marking ten years of its stylish IXUS digital camera series with the launch of the latest addition to their fabled range – the IXUS 1000 HS.
Canon claims that their newest IXUS takes the range to new heights, by fusing high-tech features with the series’ signature styling to provide premium image quality and leading technology wrapped in a luxurious metal body. Bold, slightly vague claims you may so, but the company do have the stats to back up their statements.
Firstly, the 1000 HS features the slimmest super zoom camera of its kind in the world, which is a 10x optical zoom lens, with Full HD video capture for 1080p movies on offer too. The camera is also the second IXUS to feature the HS System and combines a high-sensitivity, 10.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor with powerful DIGIC 4 processing to provide fantastic image quality and high-speed shooting.
Available in silver, brown and pink, the latest IXUS is bolstered by the camera’s 7.6 cm (3.0â€) PureColor II G LCD screen, which incorporates a tempered glass outer layer to providea high contrast, wide viewing angle ideal for shooting large groups. The 16:9 widescreen display also allows users to frame and play back HD video footage in full-screen without black borders at the top and bottom of the picture, providing the perfect companion to the Full HD movie capture.
As for the aforementioned HS system, the system enables high-speed, non-stop action to be recorded until either the shutter button is released or the memory card becomes full. Up to 3.7 shots can be recorded per second via continuous shooting at full 10.0MP resolution while up to 8.8 shots per second are captured 2.5MP resolution in High-speed Burst mode, meaning users will never miss a moment’s action.
Owners of the IXUS 1000 HS can also join the CANON iMAGE GATEWAY, an online facility for sharing photos and video. Users can take advantage of up to 2GB of personal storage capacity, creating enough room for hundreds of high-quality images.
