The identity of the mysterious Stig character from TV’s Top Gear has been revealed as Formula Three driver Ben Collins, according to reports.
A newspaper has claimed that 33-year-old Collins is The Stig after following up a story in a Bristol newspaper.
Documents have emerged linking Collins, who was Daniel Craig’s stuntdriver for the Quantum of Solace, to the character.
His company, Collins Autosport, recorded a “cornerstone year,†in 2003, a month after the first appearance of the new Stig on Top Gear.
This was down to “driving services provided for the BBC, mainly in the Top Gear programme,†which offer “good long-term prospects for continuing income.â€
“It’s bloody annoying,†a Top Gear insider has commented. “You wouldn’t write a piece saying that Santa didn’t exist.â€
