Monday night football between Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League and racing at Hamilton this afternoon provide the substance for today’s crack at the bookies.

Liverpool travel to Eastlands tonight and will be more than happy to strike another one of the top sides off the list so early in the season. Both sides gave fragile performances in the Europa League last week so don’t go expecting any 6-0 wins like we had over the weekend.

Roy Hodgson would be a mad man not to take a draw tonight if it were to be offered to him. Mancini, on the other hand, will be gung-ho to win this but may forget how difficult Liverpool are to break down. Javier Mascherano is set to start tonight after missing out in the win against Trabzonspor last week.

Although the Argentinean looked destined to leave Anfield, he has now reapplied his dogged attitude to the engine room and his presence will enable Liverpool to come away with a 1-1 daw tonight at odds of 5/1.

In racing, it’s a reasonably quiet day with just three day meetings and one evening card. However, we’ve found a Bryan Smart runner that looks ready to rock in the 3.00pm at Hamilton.

HAMBLETON has been knocking on the door of late and in this five-runner contest he should finally find himself in the winner’s enclosure. He’s still a maiden after a close second over course and distance last week and faces tricky opposition in main rival Ming Meng.

Tom Eaves takes to the saddle on Hambleton in the second race and we feel he’ll do the business at about 7/4.

JOE’s Daily Double: Hambleton (Hamilton, 3.00 @ 7/4) and Liverpool to draw 1-1 with Man City @ 5/1
