Everton playmaker Mikel Arteta has admitted he would ‘seriously consider’ playing for England if Fabio Capello called him up.
Mikel Arteta has played for Everton since 2005, and gained British citizenship this year.
Speaking after Everton’s 1-1 draw against Wolves, he told Match of the Day, “If one day the opportunity comes, obviously I would have to consider [playing for England] very seriously.â€
The 28-year-old has represented his native country Spain at U-17, U-18 and U-21 but has never gained a full international cap.
The ex-Rangers man was named Everton Player of the Season on two occasions, in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007.
