Brian Cody has admitted that Henry Shefflin and John Tennyson are unlikely to be fit for the All-Ireland final.
Both Shefflin and Tennyson have suffered cruciate ligament injuries, but are desperate to play on 5 September, as the Cats go for an unprecedented five-in-a-row.
“We’re talking miracles here. That’s really it. They’re getting treatment and it’s in the lap of the gods,” Cody said.
The Kilkenny manager has stated that any decision regarding the two players won’t be left until the very last minute.
“To have a hope of playing they need to be training flat out this week, to be considered for an All-Ireland final they’ll have to prove their fitness,” he added.
The Cats will take on Tipperary at 3.30pm on 5 September in Croke Park.
