For today’s daily double, we like the look of an Aidan O’Brien colt in the 7.05 at Sligo and fancy Roy Keane’s Ipswich to continue their good start to the season away to Crewe.

The domestic racing today is at Sligo and we like the look of an Aidan O’Brien colt in the Liam & Rita Lipsett Memorial Maiden.

BATTLEOFTRAFALGAR ran well at Galway a few weeks back and was second behind the highly-rated Prince Chapparal in the galwayraces.com handicap on the last day of the festival at Ballybrit, and third behind Raffaello Santi in a maiden two days earlier.

The form is consistent, and he has already finished ahead of another fancy for this one, Sailor’s Warn, in Galway. With JP O’Brien on board, we reckon he can claim the spoils in the 7.05 at 10/3.

Roy Keane’s Ipswich have got off to a cracking start in the Championship this season, with seven points from three games leaving them fifth in the table, two points behind leaders QPR.

Tonight they travel to Gresty Road to take on a Crewe side fresh from having banged in seven against Brentford at the weekend. Dario Gradi’s side are no doubt brimming with confidence after that display, but we think the gulf in class between a Championship side and a League Two side will be all too evident and fancy the Tractor Boys to come away with a win.

Take Ipswich to beat Crewe in the Carling Cup, which can be backed at even money.

JOE’s Daily Double: Battleoftrafalgar (Sligo, 7.05 @ 10/3) and Ipswich to beat Crewe @ 1/1.
