Download Tracks of the Week

In this week's Download Tracks of the Week we've up-and-comers Grouplove, Blood Red Shoes and the mercurial Cee Lo Green.

JOE

Grouplove, Colours. Download here.

Grouplove’s self-titled debut single helped secure the indie group a top 10 spot in NME’s list of 50 bands to look out for in 2010.

The members first came together after a chance meeting on a Greek island, and decided to link up to put together some tracks months afterwards in Los Angeles.  Colours was the fruit of their efforts. If this first effort is anything to go by, Grouplove, with their sexually deviant moniker, will be indeed be one to keep an eye on.

JOE could never be in love with a man, but if he could, it would probably be with Cee Lo Green. The former Goody Mobb member is set to release a second single from his solo effort Lady Killer. The first, No One’s Gonna Love You, made it straight onto JOE’s Download Tracks of the week. Today, he becomes the first act to be featured a second time with F**k You.

Cee Lo, the frontman of Gnarls Barkley, has one of the best voices in modern music and he uses it here to somehow make a track, which is essentially a tirade of abuse, roll along with a cheerful, summery bounce you wouldn’t get in a B*witched number. Lady Killer is looking a lot like a 2010 must-have.

Blood Red Shoes, Heartsink. Download here.

JOE would normally avoid mixed-gender rock duets that don’t feature at least two members of the White family, but we will be making an exception to our bizarre rule for Brighton pair, Blood Red Shoes. The alternative rock act is on their second album, Fire Like This, released back in March.

Heartsink, the third single from the album, is the band at its catchy best. Instantly likeable.
