Munster outside-centre Keith Earls will undergo a scan on his ankle next Monday.
Earls sustained an injury to his ankle during a training session with Munster last Monday.
Initial X-rays showed there was no break, though the ankle has swelled up in the meantime, and a scan will be required to understand the full extent of the injury.
“Keith Earls is currently undergoing his own rehabilitation training programme for a long-standing groin injury,” the IRFU said.
“He was not part of the Ireland training squad currently in camp in Belfast, so was not training with Ireland when he sustained the injury to his ankle.”
Earls has only recently recovered from a groin injury.
