Padraig Harrington has been named by Colin Montgomerie as one of his three captain’s picks, along with Edoardo Molinari and Luke Donald.
There had been speculation that Harrington would miss out, after choosing to play mostly on the US Tour.
As well as that, Harrington hasn’t won a tournament since the USPGA in 2008 (apart from the Irish PGA) and has a poor record in Ryder Cups – only garnering 8.5 points from 21 matches.
Montgomerie has decided to pick the three time major winner, however, and has given his other two wildcards to Edoardo Molinari and Luke Donald.
They will join Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell, Ian Poulter, Ross Fisher, Francesco Molinari, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Peter Hanson.
The biggest names to miss out are Paul Casey and Justin Rose.
