31/08 JOE’s Daily Double

A safe as houses tennis accumulator and a runner in the 6.25 at Folkestone are the subjects of today’s Daily Double.

JOE

A safe as houses tennis accumulator and a runner in the 6.25 at Folkestone are the subjects of today’s Daily Double.

In racing, we take aim at the 6.25 at Folkestone and fancy Mark Tompkins’ CORNISH QUEST to turn in a top performance.

This Maiden event is obviously wide open but Cornish Quest is definitely heading in the right direction after his first two starts. Most recently, he finished third at Salisbury and today’s up in trip to 7f should prove suitable.

Darryll Holland will be in the plate and at odds of 5/1 Cornish Quest is sure to be in safe hands.

Like yesterday, it’s a pretty barren landscape when it comes to sporting events this Tuesday, so once again we are turning our attention to Flushing Meadows and the US Open for the second of today’s punts.

With little value to be had betting on a single outright victory (Rafael Nadal, for example, is 1/80 to win his opening match against Teimuraz Gabashvili), we have decided to go for an accumulator and are tipping Andy Murray, Gilles Simon, Marcos Baghdatis, Novak Djokovic and James Blake to come out on top in their respective matches today.

Three of the players above are ranked in the World’s Top 20, while Viktor Troicki is the highest ranked among their challengers at number 47.

Take those five players to win, which can be backed at 7/4.

JOE’s Daily Double: Cornish Quest (Folkestone, 6.25 @ 5/1) and a tennis accumulator – Andy Murray, Gilles Simon, Marcos Baghdatis, Novak Djokovic and James Blake all to win @ 7/4.
