There was a fair amount of excitement for Samsung’s Galaxy Tab over the weekend as speculation moved on from just how good it is, to when it will be released and at what price.
Once again it seems that online retailers have jumped the gun with electronics site Expansys saying that the 16 GB model will launch in Ireland on October 11 with an eye watering price tag of €929.99.
While no prices have been confirmed by Samsung, the release date looks like it’s accurate, especially as a recent tweet from O2 Germany has also given the Galaxy Tab an October release date. O2 Germany is also offering the Tab as part of a traditional mobile contract with the upfront cost pegged at €99 and a monthly tariff of €27.50 a month thereafter.
With the release date for the device a mere month away, it’s unlikely that Samsung will hold off on an official price announcement for long but if it does indeed cost in the region of €900, we doubt it will be troubling Apple too much who offer their 16GB 3G+Wi-Fi iPad for €599.
