Kilkenny hurlers Michael Kavanagh and James Ryall have confirmed their retirement from inter-county hurling in the wake of the Cats’ All-Ireland final defeat to Tipperary.
Kavanagh, 31, started all of Kilkenny’s All-Ireland victories between 2006 and 2009 at corner back, but was not a regular member of the starting line-up in this campaign. Kavanagh has won seven All-Ireland medals throughout his inter-county career.
Ryall, 29, joined the Kilkenny panel in 2002 and has won six All-Ireland titles under Brian Cody, but hadn’t featured as a regular starter in recent seasons.
