Review: The Other Guys

If you want a Will Ferrell comedy that hits more than it misses, The Other Guys should do enough to keep you amused.

JOE

very good

Will Ferrell is back in Anchorman territory with his latest gagfest (it goes both ways) The Other Guys. Teaming up with such names as Mark Wahlberg, Michael Keaton, Sam Jackson and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, The Other Guys is much like every other Will Ferrell movie, which means you will either love it or hate it.

As for me? Well I’m unique and I fell somewhere in the middle.

The Other Guys tells the story of two cops, Gamble (Ferrell) and Hoitz (Wahlberg) who live in the shadow of Supercops Danson (Rock) and Highsmith (Jackson). After Danson and Highsmith die in the line of duty (funniest gag in the movie), every cop in the city tries to become the next big thing, but since there isn’t an over abundance of brains on display, hilarity ensues.

Like I said in the first paragraph, if you like Will Ferrell then this movie is for you. It’s directed by Adam McKay who has directed Ferrell in Talladega Nights and Saturday Night Live so he knows his way around a joke. There’s very little here you haven’t seen before save for some decent comic performances from Mark Wahlberg and Michael Keaton who both cracked me up continuously.

The Other Guys is a simple movie made up of witty one liners and some decent comic moments that hit more often than they miss.
