French car maker Peugeot is marking its 200th anniversary with a triple unveiling ahead of the Paris Motor Show.

Peugeot unveiled three models from its Marque range – the new Peugeot 508 family saloon and SW, the Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 (the world’s first diesel hybrid vehicle) and the 100 per cent electric Peugeot iOn.
Making its world debut, the Peugeot 508 combines strong design and good looks with Peugeot’s new-generation e-HDi and HYbrid4 technologies. It will be produced in France for the European market and then in China for the rest of the world. Both 508 body styles, saloon and SW, will be marketed in Europe from the beginning of 2011 and are set to arrive in Ireland in April.

The four wheel drive Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 will enter the history books as the world’s first diesel hybrid vehicle. The 3008 Hybrid4 Crossover combines a 2.0 litre diesel 163bhp engine and a 37bhp electric motor to give a maximum power of 200bhp, whilst consuming an average of 3.8 litres/100km (74.4 MPG) of fuel and emitting 99g/km of CO2. This represents a staggering reduction of 35 per cent compared to a combustion engine.

The iOn, Peugeot’s new 100 per cent electric urban car, is designed for both fleet and private customers. Silent, practical and lively, it comfortably holds four passengers but remains compact.
