Just days after scoring twice in Arsenal’s opening Champions League drubbing of FC Braga, Mexican utility striker Carlos Vela has been accused of scoring off the field – after leaked photos showed the player and Mexican teammates surrounded by prostitutes.

According to a report in this morning’s Sun newspaper, at least three members of the Mexican team, including new Fulham signing Carlos Salcido, enjoyed a knees up following their 1-0 friendly victory over Colombia last week.

A blonde named Gema was one of the revellers at post-match celebrations for the post-match party at the player’s hotel and it was her official website that broke news of the scandal, as she was pictured next to both Salcido and Vela. Gema also happens to be a transvestite sex worker, a fact apparently unbeknownst to both Premier League stars.

For his part, Salcido has issued a swift statement, stating that he and his teammates had hired a hotel ballroom for a quiet celebration, saying “If there is a fine to pay, I will accept it. I offer a personal apology, because papers say we hired 15 prostitutes including a transvestite – and that did not happen.’

Conflicting reports in the Mexican press also state that the entire Mexican team was present at the event although there has been no evidence of sexual conduct. Vela, 21, has been unavailable for comment although the Mexican FA have confirmed that they will carry out an evaluation of the accused player’s conduct.
