Two young Irish (ish) twins are well on their way to becoming big successes at Old Trafford, however only one of them looks set to become Ireland’s next ‘Keano’.
Michael (above, right) and Will (above, left) Keane, 18, are certainly making themselves known on the Manchester United team (Will is currently on the bench in today’s match against Blackburn Rovers). So you’d be glad to hear one of them will be kitting out in green for the foreseeable future. But why not the other?
Michael is a defender playing for the Irish team who has been capped at under-17 under-18 and under-19 levels for the Rep. of Ireland squad. However, Will, a forward, has represented England at both under-16 and under-19 levels.
So how can Ireland’s next possible ‘Keano’ have a twin brother playing for the English? Thanks to their parents of course.
Their awl lad, Michael Sr., is from Dublin while their mum is from Stockport, where the two lads were born according to Irish football talent watchers GreenScene.
It’s a shame we can’t have both the Keanes playing in green, but Will has made it clear where his alliances lie for the moment at least. Still, we have Michael to cheer on and at least we won’t have to throw out the ‘KEANO’ scarfs for another generation.
Check out the video below on some of Will’s (the English one) highlights while playing for the Red Devils.
