A new video, which claims to show an iPad surviving a fall from space, has made its way onto the interweb. But is it real?

This is certainly the furthest an apple has fallen to prove a point, but is that point valid? That’s the questing being asked about the G-Form video showing an iPad being lifted by a weather balloon to over 30,000m (or in Layman’s terms, to the edges of space).

The balloon eventually bursts and the iPad begins its descent back down to terra firma. So how does it survive we hear you ask.

Well, it’s all thanks to G-Form’s 170g iPad Extreme Edge case, apparently.

However, this doesn’t answer the few questions that YouTube commentators have, which include: how does the iPad survive the impact if it’s only designed to survive a certain amount of force and why isn’t the glass screen broken?

As PR stunts go this is equally impressive as it is lame. We can’t see how an iPad could survive a fall of that magnitude with its only protection coming in the form of a 170g case.

Having said that, G-Form got some pretty cool shots of the atmosphere with the camera that was attached to the weather balloon. So the video isn’t a total wast of time.

What do you think of video? Is it real or just a fake? Let us know in the comments section below or over on twitter.
