Audio footage has emerged of the argument between Steven Gerrard and Roberto Mancini last night. But why was Roberto Mancini on about ‘frosties’?
We’re not sure if Mancini was in fact discussing the grrrr-eat breakfast cereal with the Liverpool skipper, but that’s sure what it sounds like if you skip ahead to about 14 seconds into the audio clip below.
Gerrard was angry about Mancini’s rant over Glen Johnson’s two-footed tackle towards the end of the 1-0 defeat to the Reds, especially as it came so soon after Mancini blasted Wayne Rooney for his influence in Vincent Kompany’s dismissal during the Manchester derby on Sunday.
While Mancini was conducting an interview after the game, Gerrard can clearly be heard saying: “You say to the press about Wayne Rooney trying to get Kompany sent off and you try and get Johnson sent off.”
The Italian responded with a couple of grunts before saying “I say what I want” and roaring a word that sounds like ‘frosties’ before both men were alerted to the presence of the interviewer and calm was restored.
A bizarre exchange, we think you’ll agree. Have a listen to the exchange in its entirety in the clip above and make your own judgement.
