Have you ever thought of putting the toll bridge fine on the back burner for a few days? If so, read this and think again.
There are two drivers out there (maybe one of them is you) who seem to have a common disregard for paying their M50 tolls and the subsequent fines. So much so, that both drivers owe €100,000 each in toll fines.
Now you might think that racking up €100,000 in penalties would be a bit of a stretch for any regular Joe soap, so these guys must be major ‘ballers’ who drive around in Maybachs, right?
Wrong. One of the drivers has managed to rack up a whopping €132,000 in a 2003 Nissan Micra. That’s currently the largest bill ever for the non-payment of toll penalties.
Well, that is what you get for dodging an estimated 916 M50 journeys.
However, close on the heels of the Micra driver (so close that the toll cameras wouldn’t be able to read his plates) is a driver of a 2008 Volkswagen Passat who has racked up a staggering €129,000 in fines.
So who are the worst offenders? Well, according to the Sunday Times, there’s 10 Nissan drivers who have failed to pay a total of €598,000 between them, closely followed by eight Volkswagen drivers who owe a combined total of €446,000.
Next it’s Ford drivers, as there’s six of them who owe €344,000 between them and finally, four BMW drivers owe their share of €224,000.
