Brendan O’Carroll is laughing his way to the bank after it was revealed that his hit comedy series ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ sold over one million DVDs.

A million DVDs? Bejaysus, that’s a lot. However, it’s not that hard to believe because ‘Mrs Brown’s Boys’ was actually the best-selling TV series DVD in Ireland and the UK last year. Here’s a fun fact, it’s ranked the third best-selling comedy series DVD of all time, only bested by ‘Little Britain’ and ‘The Office’.

Now, some of you probably haven’t seen the programme at all, so to fill you in, Mrs Brown is a bad mouthed, crude, obnoxious Dublin City ‘awl won’ who can’t help but get involved in lives of her family. A bit too involved sometimes.

Our Brendan is delighted with the success of the show over here and in the UK. According to a report in the Irish Independent, speaking of his achievement Mr O’Carroll said, “I am thrilled to see one million DVDs go out of the stores, but I’m running out of places to store them!

“Seriously, I am delighted with the success for all concerned: Universal Pictures, BBC One, RTE and my own production company BocPix.

“We’ve worked very hard over the last 10 years to get this far, so it is such a joy to see this widow from Dublin take on the world.”
